Gundersen - Profiting From Fukushima

As I mentioned in the previous post, it's hard to find evidence of massive nuclear power industry media spending.  Caldicott and Gundersen are in the media much more often.  And here's Arnie yet again.

In fact, just go to his website and his media appearances are what are featured.  Not much nuclear engineering going on there.  But donations are encouraged! HA!

"Those bags are sooooooooooooo radioactively contaminated they'd be considered radioactive waste in the United States".  HA!  Any detectable power plant radioactivity is the criteria for considering the bags radioactive waste.  Why doesn't he tell us how radioactive they are?  Because they aren't very radioactive.

"This particular containment design (in the U.S) has been shown to be a problem and are a major concern".  Where have they been shown to be a problem?  Only at Fukushima that had a severe earthquake followed by tsunami.  The probability of that happening in Japan was very small and much smaller in the U.S., (especially in regards to the Illinois plants which aren't near any oceans).  That doesn't mean it's impossible that something could happen, but it's far from a MAJOR CONCERN!!!!!!

"A significant increase in cancers over the next 20-30 years, especially in women and young children" & "30-40% of the people in Fukushima prefecture have lumps in their thyroid".   C'mon Arnie, stop making stuff up.
About half of the children monitored for thyroid uptake showed minor doses and no significant cancer increase is expected.  This is strong evidence that there isn't likely to be a significant increase in other cancers.

"High readings in Japan and high readings in Seattle".  How high?  Data vacuum (pun intended since the topic was vacuum filters).

"Arnie's a voice of sanity in a crazy world", says the host.  Sooooooo wrong!

And Arnie has a naturopath!  That's a clincher for anti-science quackery.

"God designed it (Mother Nature) so that it has redundancy", says the host.   Wacko say what?  Then why have most species gone extinct?

Arnie lies about France's spent fuel reprocessing claiming that some of it is reprocessed but that some has been sent to Siberia.  What's in Siberia isn't associated with fuel reprocessing, it's depleted uranium which results from uranium enrichment.

There's quite a bit of plugging for his book towards the end, which Arnie says is selling for $10.  Talk about victimization.  First an earthquake, then a tsunami, then Fukushima, and now this!

"Your body doesn't have the defenses to prevent the issues related to the radioactive cesium or the radioactive strontium".  Sure it does.  To the same extent it does for natural radioactivity.

Next he scares us with EMP pulses.  Yes, they could do a lot of damage, but nuclear plants have plenty of access to diesel.  If needed the military would bring it in.

Doesn't Arnie bear an uncanny resemblance to this guy?:
